Is this a USA-spec truck?
Also, let us know the ambient temperature when posting the next set of pressures at 1,500 RPM.

Re: 1987 Buick Grand National R12 charge
Even though the blend door closes completely, sometimes the foam sealing material attached to it or the plenum deteriorates and falls off, causing heated-air leakage.

Re: Compressor Cycles every 30 seconds
To clarify what John meant: you were getting 92° at the vents while the ambient was 91°. That would suggest the air is not seeing the evap at all because of diversion issues, etc. Or maybe the evap is not getting cold at all. Re-heating is the air gets cold but then is mixed with hot air from the h...

Re: Compressor Cycles every 30 seconds
I am doing the work myself and have access to a manifold and vacuum pump. I am quite certain the system is not low on refrigerant. These are the last steps I took after talking to the people on the forum: 1. Vacuumed the system to around 29 in Hg for 30 minutes. 2. Charged the system with r134a can...

Re: Compressor Cycles every 30 seconds
When a TXV gets blocked, it's usually caused by the desiccant bag in the R/D breaking open. Then the beads travel down the liquid line and lodge in the TXV. If that happens, you would see very low pressures on your low-side gauge. Sometimes, the low side will even go into a vacuum. As already said, ...

Re: 1987 Buick Grand National R12 charge
I also checked to make sure the hot water valve is closing completely, and it is, however, if it’s leaking by, I wouldn’t know it. It’s the original valve from 87’. I’m going to look into this aspect of the system a little closer before digging deeper into the Freon side. A fairly easy way to check...

Re: Compressor Cycles every 30 seconds
How did you go about evacuating and recharging it? What pressures are you seeing?

Re: 2008 Altima Not Cooling
The manifold gauges were a loaner set as well. I took the pump back to AutoZone and got a different one from Oreilly's. Same result. I started looking at the o-rings in the hoses and they were pretty gnarly. I ended up picking up a brand new set of gauges. Full disclosure, they are the Harbor Freig...

Re: 2008 Altima Not Cooling
I wouldn't change the vacuum pump oil; I'd see if Autozone has a different pump to swap out. I didn't know the VP was a loaner. But I agree...request another pump and try again. Lots of good comments in the previous two posts. In particular, I reiterate the comment about not charging it yet until y...

Re: 2008 Altima Not Cooling
Have you tried changing your vacuum pump's oil using the manufacturer's recommended oil (not 10W-30 motor oil, for instance)? Old, contaminated VP oil could be why it's not pulling down as expected. Plastic thread sealing tape isn't recommended on any fittings because fragments might enter the syste...
