Modern AC Condensers

Post by Cusser »

Yesterday, the Chino Valley NAPA store had a big open house day. Yes, getting NAPA conventional oil for 99 cents a quart was nice, and the free pulled pork sandwiches and beans were good.

But I want to share a photo of a cutaway of a modern AC condenser section that was provided by Nissen/Four seasons; this really highlights why a modern AC condenser cannot be reverse-flushed like the old serpentine condensers, as the passages are so tiny and very likely could be plugged up by any compressor debris. So just in case anyone here thinks they can flush a modern condenser, compare the tiny holes to the quarter in the photo.

IMO, the only way to flush a "modern" condenser was with a closed-loop flushing machine line Hecat uses to make. A condenser should be added to all the compressor kits sold at the discount sites.
