Re: strange cooling

The moderators seem to think that we have gotten off topic and rightly so. So to get back on topic the C-5 Corvette, 97-04, do they all have the V7 compressor? There seems to be some confusion in cyberspace about that. If the C-5 compressor is a V7 the mounting on it looks like it will work well wit...

Re: strange cooling

intake 268 / 208 @ .050. IO 22 BTDC closes 66 ABDC exhaust 270 / 214 @ .050 EO 67 BBDC closes 23 ATDC Cam is dialed in straight up The most logical trans change would be a 200R4, supposedly it will bolt in without an adapter. Problem is that by the time I get it in I will have spent 1/3 to 1/2 of wh...

Re: strange cooling

Finally getting back to the Pontiac, had a 3" cast iron waste line inside a kitchen wall split open. I had to tear the kitchen apart to get to it. It had about a three foot long longitudinal crack that separated about 3/8". I have never seen anything like it and none of my contractor frien...

Re: strange cooling

I am not sure what kind of an anomaly you had with the 2bbl 400 but you are the only person I have heard that had anything noteworthy to say about Pontiac fuel economy. If you happen to know where that '70 Catalina is I would like to buy the engine and trans out of it. Of course there is also the is...

Re: strange cooling

Engine is a 389 with a very short camshaft. Problem is that there are no aftermarket parts for pre '65 Pontiacs. If I could find a 4 barrel intake and use an a of b series AFB I might be able to squeeze a couple more mpg out of it but it needs premium fuel because of the compression ratio. The origi...

Re: strange cooling

I went back and read the entire thread, sort of like job notes. I realized that I had the original weird problem where the auxiliary fan was being wind driven and generating enough current to keep the clutch engaged That got me chasing all the strange rabbit trails ultimately reaching the point wher...

Re: strange cooling

I put in the .072 tube and there is little change. The problem with this Pontiac is that I need 40 degree nozzle air at full blower just to maintain a livable cabin temperature in 100+ degree air. Nothing is insulated, a dark blue convertible top and untreated glass. Driving on a sunny day you can f...

Re: strange cooling

OK so I spent most of Friday afternoon and some of Saturday morning putzing with the A/C. I decided rather than modifying the radiator header AGAIN I would go back to my original idea and stack the condensers. I got another condenser to match the one already in there,. the screw holes in the top and...

Re: strange cooling

So when I get home I will put the gauges back on the windshield and drive it to see what is happening. Should I bleed off enough refrigerant to get it to cycle the clutch, if it is overcharged as I recall that can affect the nozzle temp. Not knowing what the capacity of this condenser might it help ...

Re: strange cooling

I looked at the system Tuesday afternoon and found that i had not tightened the inlet connection on the condenser, you get old and your brain leaks. I put a new o ring in it evacuated it and put it under can pressure, sprayed it with a soap solution and no bubbles so went ahead and charged it up. I ...
