Re: should i recharge or not

tbirdtbird wrote: Mon Sep 13, 2021 5:51 pm Don't think so. Based on the pic, I believe he cracked the fitting where his hose connects to the body of the coupler. I expect it is an ORing connection.
Hope so.

Odd since the hose on the manifold would do the same.

I just loosen my hoses a little (with the knurl) right at the quick connect.
You do not have that knurl, but there has to be a way

I take this to say, he opened a fitting on the actual system. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Re: DEC or High-Performance oil?

However, in a sealed refrigeration system, not easy for moisture to get in, because such lack of seal would also let refrigerant out. The thing is, double end capping seems to increase EP performance and even improve oil return. It's not all about the moisture. There are oil enhancers and other add...

Re: For Dougflas

TBird.

This is what we used in our shop for years. Works amazing for hose builds and so on. Can be used with a Map Gas setup. But I prefer a stand touch set.

Re: DEC or High-Performance oil?

Because DEC Pag is capped at both ends in the structure of the oil. Claims and research show that it is less likely to attract moisture over SEC Pag. I would tend to agree that in theory double end capped PAG should attract less moisture than a single end capped version, because single end capped w...

DEC or High-Performance oil?

I have been pondering an oil question today. Most will say use DEC Pag. Why? Because DEC Pag is capped at both ends in the structure of the oil. Claims and research show that it is less likely to attract moisture over SEC Pag. What if DEC was a trademarked or unusable term? What if there are oils th...

Re: New AC Compressor failed

With all due respect, I never said that I was ripped off. I sought the help of the forum to get to the heart of the matter, correct any errors, and get my car proper attention. This has been a learning experience. Thanks for all the positive input. I got off track a little, reading another post in ...

Re: New AC Compressor failed

I was speaking very generically, not as to this particular incident, since we have no knowledge of the particulars All are good. Just sounded like the shop pretty much did things right. Give or take the oil issue. Most suppliers have pretty much covered this with docs sent with the compressor. But ...

Re: New AC Compressor failed

I dunno. I think a shop that really does not prefer carry-in parts should tell the customer so, and turn the customer down. Is that the case here? I see no issues with customer-provided parts, then charging again if defective. Maybe the shop stated, I only cover labor once! We don't have the shop's...
