Question About Suction Hose Diameter For POA

Post by 69sixpackbee »

Hello y’all,
I am redoing the a/c hoses in my ‘72 Chevy C-20 and I have a curious concern. I am utilizing the original POA (recalibrated to 26psi for 134A) and at the time, the only hose and fittings I had available more than 20 years ago, were #10 hose fittings. The original A6 used #12 but I had installed a Sanden SD508. This was left over from the Old Air Hurricane system that I had installed prior to gutting a donor truck and adding all of the factory components to make it a factory system.
It had always worked well but now I am curious if I should step it up to #12 now that I can get these fittings. Will it really make any noticeable difference in system performance? The suction line is only 2’ from the POA to the compressor.

Thanx!

A few questions to clarify. Referring to your first post, has the ferrule issue gone away now that you can get the proper fittings? Also, are you reinstalling the A6 together with all the other OEM parts from the donor truck, or are you keeping the previously installed Sanden SD508?
