2008 Ford Ranger Plugged Orifice?

Post by bandm »

Just bought a used Ranger 4.0l. A/C :) Not cooling. Gauge says low, clutch not engaging. Started charging and eventually the clutch started cycling on and off. After 12 oz of 134A still no cooling. started adding more 134A and the the check valve on the compressor started blowing. Is it possible that the Orifice is plugged? A/C was set to High.

Although I'm not "an expert", I would sure want to know the high and the low pressures at about 2000 rpm with compressor engaged.

You just bought this - maybe previous owner added sealer, maybe clogged stuff up. If mine, I'd replace the orifice tube and accumulator, and add by weight the correct amount of refrigerant, to start.
