I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck with a Cummins diesel. The accumulator charging nipple rusted out and the accumulator needs to be replaced.
When we tried to connect the replacement accumulator to the coil nipple protruding from the firewall, they would not firmly connect. You can insert the connector fully into the nipple but they do not "click" into a firm connection. Tried two accumulators with same result. The old accumulator has no problem connecting.
Mechanic says the entire coil assembly under the dash needs to be replaced (at great cost). Is there a work around to avoid replacing a perfectly good coil assembly?
