Oddly enough, I replaced a compressor six or seven years ago, although not a Delphi swash plate type, that seized and apparently snapped the main-shaft internally. I didn't take it apart, but I could rotate the driven clutch plate without any resistance whatsoever. First and only one I've ever seen do that, and it surprised me as well.

Wouldn't a guy call that a not seized compressor then? Shaft rotates smoothly?

I reckon that one could call it 'not seized' if one was so inclined.

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the delay, it took a while to get back into this one.

So the clutch engages and spins the shaft when I turn on the AC, the shaft spins by hand as well. With the gauges hooked up, the pressures do not change, holds at about 60 psi on both sides. Question, if it was the clutch issue, would the center of the pulley just not spin in the engage position?

Thanks again for your help/suggestions!

Your couplers are not fully engaged to the fittings on the AC lines.

Some of the cheaper couplers have this problem, they are not correctly built to the SAE spec

I am still struggling to figure this one out.

DetriotAC, we are both in SE Michigan, do you have a shop in the area I could come visit with some business or any recommendations for a shop local? I am in the Lake Orion area but willing to travel to see someone with a good reputation.

Thank you

I'm on the other side of Detroit from you, Northville.

I'd be happy to take a quick peek at it, give you a free opinion that is worth what it will cost  it's a long drive over here.

I don't know any shops on your side of town
