Sorry I didn't see this sooner. It's normal for newer GM suction hoses to collapse. Their new hoses are very soft, very good for reducing noise in the cabin, they collapse flat when you pull a vacuum.

Even with the barrier inside? Seems that the plastic sleeve was not crushable just a few years ago.

Yeah, it used to be unthinkable that it could collapse. I replaced the condenser in my 2015 Silverado and peed my pants when I saw that hose

I'll have to look into if the bulk hose is the same. Could be some import hose maker using an inferior hose.

For what it's worth, I have never seen or heard of any A/C barrier hose collapsing inward like that under vacuum.
