it must not be 134a because the hose connects to the 134a freon tank

Is that image of your pump or just something you grabbed off the internet?

I am so confused, he has his hose obviously connected to the R134 fitting at the top of the TEE.
The R12 fitting on the side is vacant. It should be capped when he is vacuuming. He will never use it.

ie I do not see a problem

As said, the yellow hose fitting for R-134a should readily thread onto the 1/2" ACME port...unless your vacuum pump fitting is the left-hand-thread version that's designed only for R-1234yf. Both adapters look identical at first glance.

I don't think it's actually connected. I believe the OP is just holding the fitting right above the port of the tee to show that it won't thread on. I agree, though, the picture looks confusing.

In which case he should check the documentation that came with the pump.

If that is the case, surely there is an adapter for that, they have adapters for everything. Or change out the tee in the pump itself.
Maybe that is why he said at first that the hose would not go on either the jug or the pump, then he changed and said it did go on the jug....he switched ends. And close inspection of threads by an experienced person reveals whether they are R or L hand. Honestly he gives very little detail to go on.......leaving us in the deep weeds

Man I knew there was a reason(s) we decided to avoid 1234yf in this shop, a true disaster. I did not know about the reverse fitting......

You're assuming they are trying to attach a hose to the R134a port in that image.

What is the brand and model of the vacuum pump?
