Thanks for the pics hbabler, I really appreciate it.

Clear the hood?! Where is the stock compressor mounted? I was picturing it in the same place as Expedition/Navigator, mounted to the block under the exhaust manifold?

Detroit:
The compressor on that Powerstroke is mounted above the passenger side valve cover - right on top of the engine.

Yes, a rear port head is needed for that install.

hbabler, just a friendly nudge I hope, I'm interested to see how this turns out. Hopefully this will be your winter project, and we can get details of how it works in the spring. I'd also like to offer to help out if I can, if you get stuck with needing something that doesn't exist. I make aftermarket A/C tools and fittings, making custom fittings, brackets, adapters, is pretty easy for me, I'm a machinist and welder in addition to being an A/C nerd. I know I'm partly to blame for pushing you down this path, so helping out seems right.

Hey DetroitAC. Sorry for all the delays. I’ve had some engine issues on this beloved hunk of junk. I am still slowly moving forward on this project and I will definitely reach out if I have any issues and to update you guys. Thanks for all the help. I hope you guys had a great Christmas season.

Okay I’m back at it.

Doing some more digging on the compressor specs.

The QP25 was listed as having a 141mm pulley and that’s the lip diameter. So the numbers for it are actually better it’s got a 127mm belt OD.

I also found a Denso with an 8 groove pulley. It’s for the Toyota Tundra so it’s pretty reasonably priced. It has a 117mm belt OD.

I’m leaning towards the QP25 and I’m going to make some calls Monday to see if I can find it in stock
