Rattling from new receiver dryer

Hi everyone.
Just got a new receiver dryer for my car. I had a new unused (still sealed) one left from a previous condenser job (new condenser eventually came with a new R/D already fitted so i kept it), but i accidentally dropped it from a small height even when still boxed.
The one that just came in is making a very quiet rattle noise when shaken, as if there were small stones loose inside moving a really short distance. Desiccant beads?
Already read somewhere on this forum that if an R/D/accu sounds like a baby rattle when shaken, it's basically trash. But it's definitely quieter than a baby rattle.
The dropped one is seemingly 100% quiet, on the other hand. But i'm sure that this one has the desiccant confined to an internal bag (already opened one designed like that) so possibly no desiccant movement.
On the other hand, the one that just came in is reminiscent of the original one and as such it might have the desiccant contained between two metal cages (and felt pads). Could i be hearing the desiccant beads rattling against the wall?
Doesn't look like it or the package have been dropped.
Already asked the dealer if they could possibly check if they all make this noise but in the meantime i thought i could share my insights here.

Bag broke. Toss the drier or exchange it with a new one.

Thanks for this info Tim. Just so you know, the dealer is basically giving me the runaround. They say they can't help me and to ask a specialist. Seems like getting someone to the shop/warehouse and checking these filters is an overwhelming task for them. Now i understand what kind of people i'm dealing with.

Since it's a cheap item, and the compressor is like 10 times more expensive than it, for the sake of information i'll be buying another one from a different supplier and report here if this one rattles too.

I'll never say never. But the driers we sell don't rattle. But I'm not trying to be the cheapest supplier either. I don't know how some people get away with what they do.

For what driers cost, I'd just get one that doesn't rattle.

Story goes on.

New receiver dryer just arrived (took its sweet time due to the virus thing). Same brand and part number, only different supplier. This time it's been packaged really carefully, both the envelope and the actual box were filled with vibration-dampening material.

This one isn't rattling. But why?

Again, it's the one with the fine metal mesh covering the TXV feed line (completely absent in the original design), and the desiccant beads confined to a bag/sock rather than two metal sieves and felt pads. I can tell this by how it looks, i've opened one like it before. Really different compared to the rattling one. But still the same brand.

At this point it seems to be some kind of updated design and the rattling one might be NOS.

So no way to tell whether the rattling one is defective or not unless i open it.
