Quality can tap?

Hey everyone. I've been doing some AC work in the past and have yet to be satisfied with any can taps I've used.

Before the self sealing cans came, I have a tap that simply punctured the top of the can. It worked okay.

Then the self sealing cans came, and the blue adapters came out. Those suck, I could never get them to work well.

So I bought 2 new can taps from oriellys / advance auto, both of which are supposed to be used with the self sealing cans.

The problem: they simply do not allow refrigerant to flow easily. After installing them onto the cans, there's an *extremely* small window in which refrigerant can flow through. (For example, I'm turning in the dial and I hear the pressure leave the can into the gauges, but even 1/16 of a turn past that, all flow stops).

Needless to say, this is a major delay in the amount of time it takes to charge systems.

I am looking for a tap that will allow FULL flow like it's supposed to. Is my only option a side tap? Are there quality taps that screw on? Thanks in advance.

Side can taps ROCK. My only choice for stuff in cans.

Reliable, easy to use. Works on all of the standard size cans. Ever drop a nearly full can of brake cleaner, and snap off the valve stem? Yep, works for that too.

Thanks Tim, I will update my bookmarks.

That IS a better unit. Both fittings and the adapters stay with the unit - Nice!

You know the game. Vendors always swapping brands and increasing prices. Everyone has a knock-off to offer which is good sometimes. For tools and such. Still try and stay with Mastercool or Santech.

Just a notice. The developmental site for parts is up and running. Should be some fair prices on compressors and such.
