UV dye time in system

I've developed a leak and added a can of the UV dye to locate it. How long should I operate the vehicle before I can expect some good visible indications? The system worked well last December during a warm spell here in Va but this past week the evap only drops the ambient by about 10 degree at most. If the leak would happen to be in the evaporator, is a sniffer the easiest way to confirm this? I'm a DIY guy (but stuck in a wheelchair) and I'm not looking to make it any harder than it needs to be. I just bought an unused tiF 5650 detector. Would that be considered a good unit? I didn't want to fool with those low-end things on ebay. Thanks for your input, Jeff

Depends on the size of the leak. A week of operation should be long enough if not sooner.
