Re: 2012 Fiesta - Pressures Too High

You intimated that you have confidence in the accuracy of your Manifold Gauge Set. So I think the way to go now is to recover the charge or have it done, and then—while the system is empty of refrigerant—replace the receiver/dryer. They're inexpensive. On your car, it's a traditional canister separa...

With those very high static pressures, it's either grossly overcharged or something is wrong with the Manifold Gauge Set.

Re: Honda Thermal Limit Switch

Clutch gap was good. Slight drag with the .020 blade. System was 4.25 oz low. Installed a new compressor, it held a vacuum of 380 microns, charged 18 oz of refrigerant. Haven’t been able to get it to fail so far and it is cooling well. For a small-capacity system like this one, 4.25-ounces low (nea...

The small cans are still reasonable, but the 30-pound cylinder has nearly quadrupled since last I purchased one.

Re: 2013 Ford Raptor not co.d enough

This truck has electric fans. My question is, does the performance of electric fans diminish as the wear out? I will admit that I didn’t confirm that both fans were running. It made such a loud sound when the fans ran it sounded like a plane taking off. I will follow up on that. The performance of ...

Re: 2015 chevy cruze

If by chance you remove the compressor, drain the oil out of one or both ports, write down how many ounces came out, and take note of its color. It should be a light to medium amber. If it's very dark or black, that would indicate a compressor that's self-destructing internally.

Re: Evaporator freezing 2013 Honda Civic Hybrid

Unfortunately, the Manifold Gauge Set won't tell us how much refrigerant is currently in the system or how much to add. That's mainly why the pros don't recommend "topping off." Moreover, since this is a small-capacity system to begin with (it holds less than one-pound of refrigerant), it'...

Re: 2015 chevy cruze

At the very least, it needs a new condenser and receiver/dryer assembly. As for the evaporator, can you see the thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) near the firewall, or is it buried under the dash. If you can see the TXV and nothing is leaking there, I'm afraid that the evaporator will have to be re...

Re: Evaporator freezing 2013 Honda Civic Hybrid

tbirdtbird has offered some excellent advice. I agree that it's low on charge, probably due to normal seasonal losses.

For your info, here are the specs for your car, unless the under-hood decal says differently: 15.0 ounces net weight of R-134a and 8.1 fluid ounces of Hybrid Oil.
