Re: High side adapter fitting bad?

Are you talking about an R-12 high side fitting adapter? I have one for GM-type, and one Ford-type which I still use on my '88 B2200. What vehicle/year? A couple of years ago I bought a pack of refrigerant charging hose seals like this. Good thing, I had one fall out of a hose fitting, and some wea...

High side adapter fitting bad?

People, My red (high side) quick connect fitting (that is attached to the red hose of course), when snapped on to the high pressure access fitting to the system seems not to snap in nicely. It does not 'grip" or "snap in", and a bunch of refrigerant of course starts to swoosh out. It ...

Re: How to clean out dessicant beads from system

Thanks, cusser! That confirms my suspicion. I will leave the condenser and get new drier and put in new exp valve. Should I flush out liquid line in BOTH directions? With a simple air compressor, blasting in both directions? Also, I heard never to use solvents like brake cleaner/mineral spirits, ace...

How to clean out dessicant beads from system

People, Civic 2001 EX, system was not cooling right (blew cold air sometimes, blew ambient other times). Pressure in low side was zero while high side was 170 or so. Something was clogging the valve, I figured. Dismantled the exp valve and noticed small 2mm beads of what has to be dessicant stuffed/...

Re: Persistent ac drain tube problem- flooding

If the drain tube is not the source of the back up, then the issue is in the evaporator box. On some vehicles the bottom of the evaporator box can be removed without removing the dash. I can't really recommend drilling that evap drain tube out and threading in a larger hose barb (one would need to ...

Persistent ac drain tube problem- flooding

People, 2010 Cobalt LT, original owner, for the first 6 years no problem with ac. Recently, I get periodic flooding of water from the evap, all over my passenger floor. A big puddle. So I tried to wet vac suck the drain tube from the engine bay. Worked for about 2-3 weeks. Then flooding again. So I ...

Re: Do I have a bad compressor?

OK, after a week of decent cold ac, not it quit entirely. Back to the drawing board- it was too good to be true. Heres what I got just now: static psi is 110 at about 88 degrees F Engine on, ac on high, low psi is 0-2psi, High is 200 After engine running for 5 min, low = 5 psi, high 200 still Rev to...

Re: Do I have a bad compressor?

Do you lose air volume when it stops cooling. That heat switch on top of the compressor may not be working correctly. But you need to trace down why it is not cycling. What are the highest pressure you see, normally right before it stops cooling. Man, Tim, youre not goinna believe this but the ac w...

Re: Do I have a bad compressor?

OK, Tim and Cusser, just checked again and heres what I got: low side psi is 45, high side is 300. Outside temp is 90 (hot here!). The comp did NOT stop - did not cycle on/off, the clutch was turning and never stopped in the 15 minutes I observed it. The vent blew cold air initially for say, 2 minut...
