Re: Can a vacuum pump be "bad" despite pulling to proper Hg vacuum?
Why do I only ever see micron gauges used in home HVAC work? I'm not disputing the benefits for automotive work, but I've never seen them used, and even my professional mechanic friends don't use or own them for automotive AC work. It just seems like an expensive tool for me to add just to see if m...

Re: Can a vacuum pump be "bad" despite pulling to proper Hg vacuum?
Best way to know you have a proper vacuum. Is to use a Micron gauge in the ac gauge set-up. 1000 microns or less with 500 microns being the best number to achieve.
Replacing vacuum pump oil is recommended to achieve best micron number.

Nitrogen with a little R134a works fine for leak checks. Personal preference on using either a electric or a dye style leak detection option.

Re: 1990 Dodge D250 Cummins A/C Compressor
Unless you have a sump (and your compressor doesn't feature neither a sump, nor an isolated crankcase that can store a good amount of oil), almost nothing keeps the compressor lubricated during a DIY recharge accomplished with the compressor on, except perhaps that little oil (usually half an oz) w...

Re: Put a bend in new suction hose to match OE
I don't have a quick fix answer without placing stress on it. Someone with crimping tools may be able to make adjustments.

Re: Put a bend in new suction hose to match OE
If you're attaching to the compressor, it' the manifold lines. Pictures are small but the OE looks to have the rear line on it so I'll link to that.

Per the information provided. This should be the line.

Re: 2015 Subaru Forester AC Compressor replacement
We offer a new OE Compressor for this vehicle. When the shop was open had a friend with one of these vehicles. Compressors never seemed to last no matter which brand one used. All new I should ad not rebuilt. https://ackits.net/search-results/?fwp_year=2015&fwp_mme=subaru%2Cforester-2-5i-limited...

Drain and check compressor oil. Can also cut open the drier.
