Re: 2003 MB E320 W210 R/D missing
Adding to what has already been said, I would worry about the oil as well. I don't know what type of oil MB originally put in it. If it was double-end-capped PAG, I would be somewhat less concerned. If it was the single-end-capped variety, that oil type is much more hygroscopic, meaning that it abso...

Re: Oil Balancing System
I would like to attempt flushing, but I'm not sure I could do a good job without removing it from the car. Dash has to come out for that so I'm really not too keen on doing that, and my garage is already quite a mess from another car I have sitting on jack stands in the garage. Could I get one the ...

Re: Oil Balancing System
According to the GM specs, you need a total of 8 ounces of oil in this system for the V5 to remain "healthy." As I see it, the only problem with your approach to balancing is that none of us knows how much oil, if any, remains in the original evaporator. Since you have replaced everything ...

Re: AC With A Mind Of It's Own
It sounds to me like the system is low on refrigerant. Unfortunately, those recharging kits with the little color-coded gauges can't tell you much of anything useful—neither the amount of refrigerant currently in the system nor the correct amount to add if it's low. And some of those kits contain re...

Re: 1969 Grand Prix capacities needed
I posed your question to MACS, and here (after a long delay) is what they said: "1969 PONTIAC, GRAND PRIX AND TEMPEST Under normal conditions, receiver-dehydrator will show clear with about 3-1/2 pounds of refrigerant in the system. However, the air conditioner will not produce its best perfor...

Re: GM A6 Compressor Oil
The GM A6 compressor takes between 10 and 11 ounces of oil (total system capacity), with some Corvettes using a slightly smaller A6 displacement-wise, IIRC. So you're in the ballpark, so to speak, with your '69 Camaro factory system. PAG 150 works, as long as you're starting with a clean system cont...

Re: High and low pressures same on 2014 Crosstrek
If the compressor is engaging, your Manifold Gauge Set is securely connected (the port adapters on the red and blue hoses "open" [turned fully clockwise ] and both MGS handwheels fully closed), and you're still reading the pressures you posted, then I'd say that the compressor is shot. Doe...

Re: High and low pressures same on 2014 Crosstrek
With no significant changes in either the HS and LS pressures, it does sound like you're reading only static pressures and that the compressor isn't actually engaging.
Are you the original owner and, if so, have you ever had the A/C system serviced?

Re: K5 r134 conversion, where to go from here? Help?
Even though you bumped-up the charge, it appears that insufficient liquid refrigerant is making it to and through the evaporator based on your latest evap line temperatures. That might be caused by the condenser (not enough airflow, inadequate fan, defective component, etc.), or by a compressor that...

Re: K5 r134 conversion, where to go from here? Help?
Ok, at 2k rpm outside temp 93 degrees. high side - just under 300 low side - just under 40 With the engine at 2,000 RPM and the high-side pressure at just under 300 PSI, it seems as though the condenser isn't condensing sufficiently for whatever reason. At that ambient, the high side should be in t...
