Re: AC not very cold at idle, great while driving
I don't recall your mentioning pressures. With the 16-ounce charge, what do the high and low sides look like at 1,800 RPM engine speed, A/C on max, blower on medium, doors and windows open, cooling fans running, and compressor engaged?

Re: AC not very cold at idle, great while driving
The AC was charged by weight. Max fill is 16.46 oz and I have ~16 oz in there. This was done 3 days ago. All of my references say 23 ounces of R-134a, so it might be undercharged. Is there an engine-compartment decal that specifies 16.46 ounces? If so, the decal would take precedence. Also, take a ...

Or, for instance, if the leak is found at the end of the summer, you can wait until the following year to get the leak fixed? Not how I would do it, atmospheric air can get in there, which is not good Continuing that thought, you could take a chance that the system would maintain at least some posi...

Re: how to zero yellow jacket 42006 gauges?
According to a youtube I found, it said to center the needles in the zero boxes on the gauges does this sound correct? Yes, that is correct. To center the needles, you'll need to remove the plastic plug in the face of each gauge lens or remove the entire lens to access the calibration screws, which...

Re: Grayish Powder Inside High Pressure Line
I agree with previous comments about some aftermarket TXVs not being up to snuff. I've experienced that myself. If the original TXV looks good, is intact, and was working, I would blow it off carefully and reinstall it. I advise against readjusting it, though. Once you change the superheat spring-te...

Re: 02 Silverado ac compressor problem
When you changed the OT, did you use the correct part and install it in the right direction? Did you replace the accumulator/dryer? And how did you re-charge it? The gap of the clutch-engagement surfaces might be too wide. It should be around 0.020" or the thickness of a standard business card....

Re: Low side normal /high side low stumped
It calls for the orange OT, the same as the part number listed. Digging into this a little deeper, there seems to be conflicting information on which OT is correct for the 2001 Excursion. My local Ford dealer lists Part Number 38639 as the red OT with a 0.062" orifice while others list the sam...

Re: Low side normal /high side low stumped
By fans you mean the fan on the engine yes it’s pulling plenty of air as well as the cabin blower motors . And I did charge it with both front and rear on max settings the blend door is working and so is recirculate Yes, the fan(s) on the engine. So all of that sounds good. The low-side pressure yo...

I don't remember anymore, but did you check the fans? Are they going on and off? Also, did you charge it with both the front and rear A/C turned on?

"I put all the new parts on" John, what does this mean? That he changed out the evap and condenser as well? If that original comp grenaded then as you know he has more problems yet. I had trouble following his writeup especially when he said his hi is supposed to be 350 I took the comment...
