When you recharged it, did you put in the full amount of oil?

Re: CLUTCHED compressor shear pin?
I vote for replacing the compressor assembly, especially with that amount of mileage on it, as well as the condenser and the receiver/dryer, which I believe is integral with the condenser.

Re: 1999 Tahoe Low Side Cutting
Interesting about the refrigerant-amount discrepancies. I don't know where the differing specs originated, but the files I have list the higher amount. I'm beginning to wonder about the cycling switch being out of whack. The cut-off point looks about right, but the cut-on point looks higher than it ...

Re: 1999 Tahoe Low Side Cutting
The specifications that I have for your truck with rear A/C call for 64 ounces (4.0 pounds) of R-134a. Presuming that my specs are accurate, and you have only 2.75 pounds (44 ounces) in the system now, then it's undercharged by quite a bit. Your truck without rear A/C calls for 36 ounces (2.25 pound...

Re: Any MACS people out there?
The MACS training events and trade shows are excellent with outstanding guest speakers in attendance and top-notch accommodations. I particularly like the technical sessions, but the marketing sessions are great for business owners or anyone having an interest. The registration fee for nonmembers is...

Re: this is why the price of 134a is going up .EPA production cut
Perhaps this is something else to consider, quoted in part from the MACS ACtion newsletter: To help meet customer needs in the transition to lower-level Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants, Chemours is expanding its Opteon YF capacity by about 40 percent at the company's Texas facility that ...

Re: 88 Toyo Pickup - rebuild ac system and flush questions
Right, I would flush the used lines, and dry them out thoroughly. Nitrogen is best for blowing through them, but if you don't have a nitrogen set-up, shop air will do in a pinch—the drier the better. The new condenser, evaporator, and hoses don't need to be flushed as long as they're factory sealed....

Re: 88 Toyo Pickup - rebuild ac system and flush questions
Re the R12 to R134 fittings. Is this what I need? And what are the black ones for? And why are there two blues and two reds? And should I install service ports in the compressor lines? One of the line appears to have a blue (low) service port. There is no red service port in the high line. Tim at A...

Re: 88 Toyo Pickup - rebuild ac system and flush questions
I'm rebuilding the AC in a 1988 Toyota Pickup. I plan to replace the following components with new ones and use R134a: condenser, compressor, evaporator, dryer, TRX valve, and o-rings will all be replaced with new units. So far, so good, but note the following: The new compressor, if it contains mi...
