Re: Upgrading (and remounting) a Vintage AC system
The compressor only "robs" hp from the engine when engaged. When not engaged, the pulley rotates freely. Or just remove the belt from old York compressor. You can likely heat and bend the gearshift lever so your hand doesn't hit. I bent mine on my 1979 Toyota truck so my youngest could sit...

Re: Cant add refrigerant
So sorry for the delay n my reply. Your idea worked- I slowly removed the end of the tubing and got no gas leaking out to indicate the tubing was maybe plugged. So I completely removed the gauges tube/line, and was shocked to find out these new cans have the new useable valve! First introduced in C...

Re: 2004 Frontier AC stopped working today
I have all the same vendors as most on Rock, Ebay, Amazon and so on. If you can't find something email me. It's hard and expensive to update every year unless you one of the big boys. No worries. Just saying I can always help. Yes, you would have had to pay sales tax. Can't avoid that with me. Unde...

Re: 2004 Frontier AC stopped working today
Rock $206.00 Ackits: $228.00 Cusser you know I would have matched that. I didn't know that ACkits might match, would've dealt with you had this unit been stocked in Scottsdale. I've purchased three compressors in the past from you. I actually got a 5% discount from above from Rock, but paid like $1...

Re: 2004 Frontier AC stopped working today
Today I cut open the old drier cartridge with a hacksaw. It looked pretty clean, even its little plastic screen/filter. The new condenser came with the new drier already attached. Still wish that the new condenser and new compressor would've had new green O-rings included, and 2 new line clips for t...

Re: 2004 Frontier AC stopped working today
Actually, the self sealing cans are not a bad idea, and the adapters are only like $3. Anyway, got the grille and front supports out, then got the old condenser out (with drier attached). Guess what - thanks to cost savings these days, apparently neither the new condenser or new compressor come with...

Re: 2004 Frontier AC stopped working today
Today (Arizona) I stopped at Walmart to pick up some pure R134a cans at $4.88 each; I noticed that most cans had a new self-sealing feature I hadn't been aware of, that apparently need a special/new type of can adapter. I found behind these cans some old cans that were of the sealed style, so I boug...

Re: Cant add refrigerant
Wanted to addd a can of gas but suction line wll not suck in. Maybe its the connection valve on the line on the guages. Can I now test to see it it is a bad pin on the valve? Can I depress it with a eraser from a pencil? The can is now punctured, so I can not simply unscrew the end connected to the...

Re: Can PAG and mineral coexist in old R12 system?
GM brochure GM-0011 indicates that removal of mineral oil during retrofit (mostly paraffinic in GM's case) is not recommended. Can you attach or scan or link such brochure, I'd like to see it. Actually, I'm surprised that GM would even address such conversion to R134a, figured their official stance...

Re: over charged, undercharged I dont know.
Yeah I was talking about blow out the condenser just to see if it had a blockage of any kind. Doubtful. Yeah the 2.5 cans if my notes was correct, was working, but who knows if that was correct. I have learned so much since then. Today this afternoon, it was just not cooling all that well and it wa...
