Re: Bad compressor clutch...need help finding a leak

Does your car have front and rear A/C (rear evaporator)? If so, then it most likely has an OT in the front and a block-type TXV in the rear. If it has front A/C only, then it most likely has a block-type TXV in the front since it does have a R/D and not an accumulator.

Re: Bad compressor clutch...need help finding a leak

Glad you found the leaks. Since you'll be replacing the compressor assembly anyway, the clutch air gap will be set correctly from the factory. ACKits.com can supply the best parts at the best prices. Replace the R/D last to minimize its exposure to air and moisture. Use a little Nylog Blue on each o...

Re: Bad compressor clutch...need help finding a leak

It's also possible that the clutch isn't engaging due to a too-wide clutch gap. If you have room to insert a feeler gauge to measure the gap, the specification is about 0.020" for most vehicles. If it's more than that, the electromagnetic windings inside the clutch might not have sufficient &qu...

Re: 1989 Peugeot 405 Mi16 - oil top-up after leak?

After that disaster, I made an appointment at an AC specialist, who replaced a torn o-ring on the condenser inlet fitting, recharged the system, and gave it a clean bill of health. However, within a year, it had leaked down again, with oil drips coming from the same fitting, and at this point there...

Why not start a new topic for your own vehicle? Most likely, you'll get more customized responses that way.

Re: No floor fan while charging AC system --- effect?

Now, on to overcharge and undercharge and why they're both bad. Help correct my misunderstandings! You have a lot of questions, you're drifting off topic, and delving into MVAC theory. Courses and webinars are available, given by MACS and others, which discuss these subjects in detail. I would sugg...

Re: Ford Ranger AC Compressor Venting via Pressure Relief Valve

I'm suspicious about the amount of oil in the system. If it contains much too much, there will be a lot less room for the refrigerant, leading to the over-pressurization symptoms you described. Some oil undoubtedly blew out when the hose burst and the relief valve vented, but exactly how much is any...

Re: R134a issues, about to give up and sell the car!

Im at the point of taking it to get charged, it's too damn hot to have the ac off. Sure...I don't blame you. Would undercharge have the high side high? It kicks out on high pressure during the hottest, 100 degrees, afternoon. Typically, an undercharge wouldn't affect the high side in that way. The ...

Re: 2003 Ford Excursion cool not cold

LP 55.5, HP 255 on a 95 deg ambient temp day best I can get on vent temps today is 57 deg. The high-side pressure seems pretty good, but the low side is elevated, as is the (center front??) vent temperature. I'm presuming that you recorded these pressures with both the front and rear A/C turned on....

Re: R134a issues, about to give up and sell the car!

Sticker says 1.875 pounds r134a and pag oil. I found the oil amount after extensive searching online. I was wrong about charge amount since I put in 1.5 pounds and 8 ounces oil. The specifications on the under-hood sticker match the specs I posted the other day (if indeed the sticker also says 8.0 ...
