Friend said the truck sat overnight with the ac off and it didn’t work the next morning when he tried it. Later that day he tried it again and it started working. Weird.

Got to put gauges on it today. It seemed to be working as it should. 30 low and 150 high on high idle. Vent temp 52. It was 78 and humid. Low side had condensation all the way to the compressor. He said he shut the truck off Thursday night and hit the road Friday. Said ac started to work Friday even...

Look closely at the compressor where the case halves meet. I think it’s pretty common for them to leak there too. If the system is empty, you should be able to change the valve. Forgot to mention, we had to run 12 volts to the compressor so we could get gauge readings. Looked like old evidence of a leak at the case halves of the compressor. I recommended he replace the compressor, condenser, accumulator, orifice tube, and flush the evaporator and any lines without mufflers....

Control valve for this thing is hard to find.

I have experienced a control valve problem on my nephew’s Ford 500 a couple years ago. I didn’t know GM also used them.
