Re: A slightly differnt A/C system

Oh, one of those... I was hoping for a more mainstream motor I might have data for. In the 1970's there were a bunch of little aerospace shops scattered across Burbank, Sun Valley etc. That was one of them. I have seen the belt drive compressor / 28v motor before, Beech Super 18. Which aircraft is t...

Re: A slightly differnt A/C system

Post some pics of the motor if you can, and any data you have.

It worked once, and your head pressures are not that high.

How is the pulley bearing in the York? Is the clutch still being used?

Re: A slightly differnt A/C system

My first thought is that the refrigerant loop may be just fine. York units are not prone to sudden changes in performance if they have oil. You have cooling, pressures are in spec (and very conservative). I would look at the motor. DC motors in that HP & voltage range tend to be shunt wound beas...

Waid
Neither is the car in the picture - it is a 1965 Mustang -the same basic car as the Falcon.

Re: 1997 Sebring 2.5L A/C warm (details inside)

Is it an LX or JX model?

Recovering & inspecting the Expansion valve is the place to start with the low side dropping like that.

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?

There are probably only a half million Ford small blocks in junkyards with factory installed FS6 compressors with serpentine drives. . I have complete serpentine system from the Explorer and and Mustang (including the compressor) but does not fit the Falcon Engine Bay. The Falcon Engine Bay is acta...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?

Scroll compressors have poor low speed performance. I struggled with an Explorer that had a scroll - it was worthless under 45mph here in Las Vegas. I finally swapped the gear sets in both axles to 4:56 because I got tired of driving in low gear to keep the scroll pumping. The Trailblazer scroll iss...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?

The pulley on that scroll /R4 is the same size as a stock R4 - compare the pulley OD to the mounting holes in the case. The R4 is short. There is not enough room to put a TRS105 in it's place. So the more likely thing is a new outside case for a TRS90 to mount it in the old R4 can. A TRS90 (or even ...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?

Looks like a Trash-90 crammed in an R4 can with a fresh casting. Pulley looks to be the same size as an R4 - care to give us an actual measurement? Since you seem to have pics that are not on the e-bay link you posted, are you selling this product? "Better than piston type?" Better at what...
