Re: Common A/C problem in Toyota Yaris

Yeah, 5.6 liters of displacement solves that problem quite nicely. Especially in a 2800 pound car.

Re: Common A/C problem in Toyota Yaris

The reason they used that compressor on that tiny econobox was NVH. Every time the clutch activates it makes the car shudder from the horsepower it requires. Since people have become so mechanically crippled, they think something is wrong with the car.

Re: An inquiry about A/C compressors failure

The only way for this to be effective is for the filter to be large enough to do the job, and be installed on a new system. As I said in the other thread you have open, a filter from a 15 ton HVAC system will work. It is about the same size as the compressor and would require a new discharge line - ...

Or you could address the most common failure first.

Re: Strange PSI's in AC system, no cold AC

Yeah Cusser, nobody wants to believe it is the clutch gap. Lots of compressors replaced for lack of an adjustment. The hot resistance of the coil is greater than cold. Less magnetizing force hot. Add in some slightly higher resistance connections in the circuit... Quits working when it is hot. Adjus...

Re: Strange PSI's in AC system, no cold AC

Feeler gauge between the clutch faces. .020 inch is good. .080 is way too big. (yes I have seen that gap) Adjustment is made by removing the clutch plate. Behind it on the mounting surface there will be a few washers. These are the adjusting shims. You remove the same thickness you wish to reduce th...

Re: Strange PSI's in AC system, no cold AC

The un-predictable compressor engagement is usually a clutch gap.

The pulsing is a scroll compressor thing. Increase the engine speed to 1800+ rpm, and see if the pulses are less severe.

Check and adjust the clutch gap.

Re: Common A/C problem in Toyota Yaris

No, A19. What I said is the compressor runs 100% of the time. There is NO clutch on it. The control valve is electronically controlled. When the refrigerant is low the sensors will tell the control module and post a code. If the car gets regular dealer service and they pull the codes looking for ext...

Re: Common A/C problem in Toyota Yaris

Solid drive compressor with an electronic control valve. Teflon coated pistons. That compressor runs every revolution of the engine. In cooler months it is de-stroked, and relying on a full charge to return a trickle of oil. Any deferred repairs to the refrigeration system result in total destructio...
