R12>R134a conversion: insufficient cooling

1993 Toyota pickup truck, 22RE. I’ve installed a whole new AC system into this truck including new: condenser, evaporator, TXV, receiver drier, compressor, etc, and flushed all lines. Installed all new parts with pag46 oil. So, I had been having performance issues with this truck last summer after a...

Tim, I would be more than happy to order from you:) I may need a few more parts for this compressor as well. Can I send you a PM or an E-mail?

Re: Sourcing Quality Compressor

Bumping my old thread. I am thinking about just replacing the compressor shaft seals since the compressor itself works well, and it would save me quite a bit of cash. Has anyone ever replaced the seals in this type of compressor, and if so, is this something that is 'easily' doable DIY? Here is the ...

Re: 91 Volvo 240 manifold gauge question

Hi Durk, I recognize your name from the turbobricks forums. Little something I've noticed with the volvos, we don't have a high side pressure port! We simply have a low pressure port, usually located on/near the receiver drier. I believe that many of the cars had the port on the back of the compress...

Sourcing Quality Compressor

1990 Volvo 740GL, NA, auto, SOHC, originally r12 car. Hey guys, not sure if this is the appropriate subforum for this topic but if not, please move it accordingly. My fiancés ac compressor is leaking oil/refrigerant from what seems to be the front and rear of her compressor. Rather than pulling it ...

Re: Toyota pickup AC questions

Do you know for sure that it was low on refrigerant? I ask because it's not possible to tell how much is in it by pressures alone. Recovering the charge and weighing it is the only way to gauge the actual amount. I guess I do not know for sure based off of pressures. I had just assumed that the low...

Re: Toyota pickup AC questions

I just let the mechanical fan disengage and then turned off my pusher fan and high side pressures are only around 250psi or so. Low side 40psi. Perhaps it just needed time to equalize while filling.

Re: Toyota pickup AC questions

Got a text from the neighbor stating that her ac had quit working. I planned on coming home today so conveniently, I was able to take a look. Rented the equipment and checked pressures. It was low on refrigerant as expected, but not low enough to not kick on the compressor. Not sure where the leak i...

Re: Toyota pickup AC questions

John, thank you again for the reply.

I have yet to find a R/D that says it's r134a compatible, but will continue looking. It is actually quite difficult replacing this with the grill on the truck, so I may have to remove it again..time will tell!
