Re: A/C quit
It has a relay in that circuit. Dodge used a Power boxy that looked like a piano, with relays inside... https://www.factorychryslerparts.com/images/parts/Chrysler/fullsize/00i99257.jpg But they sometimes used a rectangular box with fuses, with relays behind it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4iF0jA...

Re: A/C quit
So no clutch pull in with a jumper in the relay socket? You can check the clutch coil resistance from the relay socket. Starting on "volts" with your DMM, key on. Probe the relay socket for voltage to ground. The terminal with +12v is connected to the battery. So the OTHER terminal is the ...

Re: Pressure Checks 2000 Excursion
285 psi @ 96f ambient says you are not getting good condenser performance. That test is a good analog for leaving work at 4pm after the truck sits in the sun all day. You will have the cabin fan on max with the throttle open - and low ground speed. The fan clutch or the condenser (or both) need help...

Re: A/C quit
Yeah, the clutch shaft should turn without notches or detents. The torque may change a little but it should be smooth. The condenser in those trucks is a parallel flow with small tubes. Very effective, but easy to clog. A condenser replacement is always a judgement call, based on what sort of failur...

Re: A/C quit
Check and adjust the clutch gap first, before you try replacing parts. Gap should be less than .020 or 0.5mm

Re: Pressure Checks 2000 Excursion
Fan clutches wear out. And the 9 blade plastic fan is a big load on that clutch. I would use a Motorcraft YB3157 Clutch. I would also inspect the plastic fan blade carefully. I had one come apart after a new clutch was installed. Motorcraft YA225 is the fan blade. Aftermarket clutches only last a ye...

Re: Pressure Checks 2000 Excursion
it never seems to be cool enough at idle or around town. A telling bit of information there. Increasing vehicle speed moves more air over the condenser. A full load test at 1800+ engine RPM with the cabin fans on high and the doors open will show you worst case pressures & temperatures. Run tha...

Re: Pressure Checks 2000 Excursion
What does the vent temp look like? Are these pressures at idle?

Re: A6 Replacement
Your S6 link shows a 5" pulley, same size as the OEM. Nobody ever mentions a belt length change either.
