Re: Working on fire engine AC (again)
Some block type units are adjustable. Since this is a fairly large system (TM31 compressor) It may be.
Adjustable or not, your low side pressures are controlled by the TXV.

Re: Working on fire engine AC (again)
Is this a block type TXV with both the liquid & suction line running through it?

Yep.
Plugged TXV as predicted.
Glad you got it fixed.

Where & how is the TXV sensing bulb mounted?
Is the TXV internal or external equalized?
A picture of the TXV install might help

Re: Flushing pag oil from system that has been exposed to atmosphere for months.
The condenser is a non-repairable filter. Under 100 bucks, just replace it. You are replacing the accumulator & orifice tube, all good. Compressors & oil. So many vendors, and compressors show up with... No Oil / Full of Oil / Wrong Oil / Some Oil I generally drain a new compressor, then flu...

Re: strange cooling
I have two condensers I like to use for swaps & retrofits on pre-70 cars with top to bottom flow radiators. The aspect ratio of the older radiator can be hard to match up with. 1) The condenser from a 2003 to 2007 Cadillac CTS Core size is 17 inchs high, 22 inches wide. This is the airflow area ...

Re: Charge by weight or pressure? Seeing hi pressure with a lot LESS than recommended R134 oz
Well that is all good news. I have seen too many Wing Cell systems with a double charge of oil from a quickie conversion. So you have the correct oil charge, fresh parts and an upgraded condenser. All good. The charge level in your system may not match any factory spec with a PF condenser. The good ...

Re: Charge by weight or pressure? Seeing hi pressure with a lot LESS than recommended R134 oz
134a conversions on R12 systems are never the first choice. Euro R12 systems were not very robust to begin with. Did you flush all of the system components to remove the mineral oil? Was a new, 134a compatible dryer installed? How much & what type of oil did you install for conversion? Depending...

Re: Working on fire engine AC (again)
Too much oil will absolutely hurt cooling & raise pressures. Sounds like it still has a lot of oil in it if that TM31 compressor sight glass is full after draining 4+ ounces of oil. I had a car recently that Firestone replaced a couple of compressors on that had an extra pint of oil in it. Messy...
