Re: A/C blowing hot air
Given the age of your vehicle, problems like this often result from a low-charge condition. I would begin by recovering whatever refrigerant is currently in the system, evacuate, and recharge with the proper amount of R-134a: Without rear A/C - 34.0 ounces; With rear A/C - 56.0 ounces. At the same t...

Re: 06 Jag schrader valve replacement
The Santech brand is well known in the trade, so I wouldn't hesitate ordering from them. The ones you turned up from Santech and Volvo seem to be a close match, if not identical, and probably produced in the same factory in China. Chances are either one would fit. Your call.

Re: 2007 impala ac issues
Could it still be overfilled after the relief valve has opened? It's possible, but I don't think it's very likely. From what you said earlier, a large cloud of vapor came out. It holds only 20 ounces to begin with, so it seems to me that most of the charge was lost, plus some oil that was vaporized...

Re: 2007 impala ac issues
...I'm under the impression that it was severely overfilled to begin with. Lacking any service records, an overcharge is another possibility. Who knows what was done to it in the past. Could even have sealer in it, which can clog things up and cause high pressures. I am thinking that it is possible...

Re: 06 Jag schrader valve replacement
After looking into this in more detail, the aftermarket Schrader valve that you used, although different looking from the original part, is supposed to be the correct replacement. It's certainly possible that the "new" one was defective from the factory, or maybe the factory just forgot to...

Re: 2007 impala ac issues
Often, when a HPRV opens for whatever reason, it doesn't re-seat properly and will continue to leak, at least a little. I would replace it at this point given the age of your car. You'll need to determine why it released in the first place. As suggested earlier, a condensing problem is a primary cau...

Re: 06 Jag schrader valve replacement
Is the port adapter (the part into which the Schrader valve screws) removable from the liquid line? If so, you might be able to locate another adapter with the same thread that accepts a more readily available Schrader valve.

Re: 2007 impala ac issues
Yes, there are pressure-relief valves on mobile vehicle A/C systems that will release refrigerant and oil, as you experienced, under conditions of excessively high system pressures. The blinking light indicates a problem as well. Do you have any record of the A/C system being serviced by the previou...

Nah...don't waste your money on an expensive OEM part if you don't have to. Check first with Century Tool & Equipment. They stock quite a few Schrader valves, one of which surely will match your original.

Re: 2002 Civic Si – Evaporator temperature sensor
Could you please clarify your statement ‘The refrigerant amount in a MVAC system is charged exclusively by weight’? I don't work on residential or commercial A/C systems. But the way I understand it, refrigerant is charged into such systems until the optimum superheat and subcooling temperatures ar...
