Re: Mechanical Fan AC delay

Don't waste your time idling. The compressor has a fixed displacement. Spinning it faster generates more mass refrigerant flow, which means more cooling capacity. The viscous fan speed goes up with engine speed, even if not "locked". Additional engine speed heats the clutch. Additional eng...

Re: 1967 Catalina AC Help/Advice

Jesse is the dryer cold at some point? Because any liquid line restriction acts as an expansion device Run your had over the outside of it starting at the inlet line and work your way to the TXV. It should all be close to the same temperature. For example a receiver with a clogged inlet will have a ...

Re: More A6 Questions

I have been happy with the A6 units I bought from the Site Sponsor: http://www.ackits.com/ Give them a call, they are great people to deal with. They can ship the right oil with the compressor. The oil in the A6 goes in the SUMP on the compressor, because there is a gerotor oil pump inside that comp...

Re: Charging Liquid

Yes. Especially when faced with multiple cans. Drop the entire first can in the high side under vacuum with the can tap & high side valve wide open. You usually only get one can in this way, but you have enough initial charge to make the system cycle & return oil. Close the high side valve &...

Re: Working on fire engine AC (again)

Actually Ice, you are closer than you think... Both of those issues are from a nearby VFD. They killed a condenser on a rig with their brand new 4000 psi Diesel pressure washer. They tried to kill a Mini-Split by plucking a bag of game birds up wind of the condenser. When it shut down they had no id...

Re: No low side service port

Is this a block TXV on the firewall or a CCOT car with a cycling switch? Dodge did it both ways.

Re: Working on fire engine AC (again)

With that high side check the condenser airflow.

Fan(s) OK? Somebody pluck a chicken in front of it when running? Overzealous cleaning with a pressure washer flatten all of the fins?

Re: 2002 F-250 7.3 - hot at idle - capacity question & help wanted

Ah, the old defective return received from RockAuto. Because of the distributed wholesale nature of that operation, RTV items that don't get tagged get re-shipped to customers. Just the nature of the system when you run it with the lowest possible operating cost. They do usually make it right. All o...

Re: 2002 F-250 7.3 - hot at idle - capacity question & help wanted

39f rolling down the road, 60f stopped. AIRFLOW. Bad Fan Clutch. Missing shrouds, seals or air dams. On a cold start, the fan howl @ 1500 engine RPM should be awful. After idling with the A/C on, both doors open & cabin fan on high for 10 minutes the fan should howl just like it did when cold. J...
