Sorry digger, grabbed the wron sheet this morning before coffee.
525 refers to SUS viscosity, which in ISO would be around 100.

Re: Strange problem
So what was the high side pressure while it was running?
I see no pressure readings anywhere here except a static 95psi

Re: Brand new A/C from scratch - '88 Mustang
Maverick: That spectra part is a flat tube parallel condenser, and it does indeed have less volume. Some drop in units are 6mm Piccolo types, with a little more volume. I am going to point you at the Mustang charge spec history. Scroll down to Mustang: https://www.techchoiceparts.com/refrigerant-and...

Re: Brand new A/C from scratch - '88 Mustang
There is no 80% rule. Back when refrigerant swaps were new, and the original mineral oil got left in systems - and Ester oil added - there was reduced system volume and higher pressures. So various conversion advice was to reduce charge by 20% to try to control high pressures generated by excess oil...

Re: 2008 Suburban vs 2000 Excursion AC Functionality
Well if it had enough vertical clearance I could make a plate adapter with an idler and stack a pair of FS10's in that spot... Just kidding. Detroit: Good to know you think the condenser is up to the job. If the vehicle has the space for the TM31 it will have plenty of capacity at idle. Do you see a...

Re: 2008 Suburban vs 2000 Excursion AC Functionality
Custom hose set of course. GM style rear ports are an option on that unit. Calculations are pretty straight forward. For any given belt speed over the existing pulley on the FS10 you get 170cc / rev. So if you change the pulley size by 25% you get a 25% change in compressor shaft speed. If you slow ...

Re: 2008 Suburban vs 2000 Excursion AC Functionality
Just for fun, the TM31 or DKS32 has a 313cc/rev displacement. But it has a 152mm PV8 clutch. So, about 34% slower. Multiply the capacity by .736 230cc "capacity". It is 170mm "tall" from the mounting surface. Might be enough room on the 7.3 where it mounts. Commercial grade unit ...

Re: Strange problem
Well, if HALF of the condenser is actually getting cold enough to condense water, I think we can say that something in the condenser is acting as an expansion device...

Re: To Insulate vapor line or not
Thunderbird I generally use foil faced fiberglass cloth to stop radiant heat on the suction line where needed . It is not very thick, fits in most places. Only complaint is that it looks like something we sent to the moon... https://www.mcmaster.com/87715K49/ Well we kind of did use this stuff on sp...
