Re: Air system design for vintage car
Why 30% fresh air? Well, it is an air cooled car with a heating system that includes heat exchangers on the exhaust system. I have owned a few air cooled cars, and many times if something was not right in the heating system you could smell the engine compartment. In the worst case you get pumped in ...

Re: Newbie Looking for advice
Must have been fun fitting the York to an LS. It is much easier to swap a V7 on to the original 383. If you can touch the TXV with it running, check the line between the TXV and the evaporator, It should be cold. Then check the suction line where it leaves the evaporator case. They should be very cl...

Re: Low pressure too low
First, stop with the jumper wires before you let the smoke out of an expensive and hard to replace electrical component. 1991-1994 Buick Park Avenue cars share an ATC panel with other GM Luxury cars of the same years. That panel gathers data from several sensors, one of which is a refrigerant pressu...

Re: Air system design for vintage car
So the only clue about the car is "50 years old" and Porsche. 912? 911? 914?
Electric A/C compressors have limited capacity, and the 50 year old Porsche cars have a charging system borrowed from a VW Beetle.
What sort of local climate do you plan to operate the A/C in?

Re: What happens when capacity of system is exceeded?
Dang Tim, I wish I had thought of that! I could just swap the OEM expansion valve for some magic Denso part and pick up 30% more capacity! Wow!
