Re: How to wire up old 58-60 evaporator without thermostat???

separately you described low air flow from Mark IV Monitor: 1) Slow motor: if bearings are misaligned, tap several times on each motor shaft with motor running and perpendicular to shaft. 2) If bearings are dry, drill tiny hole in end cap near bearing and squirt in oil. blower wheels must have forwa...

Re: blowing hot from the side vents

Hi Grumpy, I worked for BEHR (headquartered in Stuttgart-Feuerbach) for 14 years and they made the MB HVAC using an abundance of vacuum motors and hoses. If Antifreeze enters the vacuum system as could happen in your overheated engine, the elastomer vacuum diaphragms are damaged over time. If this is...

Boar with bad vision took his last step as he walked right up yo my pickup a few days ago. Dad's 54 chevy had the square Mark IV with a long louver across the top front. Re: Mark IV AC evaporator history questions

pic #1 was popular as a beer cooler when louvers are removed and holes just fit a beer can. Pic #2 established my level of progress in AC development after I went to work for $2.50/hr in 1960 at age 18. Made every drawing on this Monitor and traveled USA to die casters etc. to get tooling. Didn't ow...

Re: 1961 cadillac conversion

SD5H11 LOL You may need to modify OEM blower inlet in AC mode for 100% recirculating air. At 95F/50%RH most OEMs will meet or beat 45F discharge air with 100% recir air but the boggy is only 55F with full outside air. I usually install a shut off water heater valve for summer cooling on vintage OEM ...

Re: 1961 cadillac conversion

Outside the box: 2xo is 75% correct that compressor swept volume displacement can solve your low refrigerant mass flow problem. Suction gas flow restriction is the rest of the story. Relatively small suction hose I.D., bends and choke diameters inside fittings at the compressor should also be includ...
