Barrier Hose and Barb Fitting Components

Did some searching without luck on this...

When converting to R134A and also replacing the hoses with barrier type, how do you make the new hoses work with the old components that still have barb fittings?

That's what I am starting to think. Later down the road, when the new one is still working, I'll have forgotten about the cost!
