A friend of mine just bought an 06 Civic 4 door from a Buy-Here-Pay-Here lot and the AC is not cooling as it should. Lowest vent temps we can get are 58-62F and it just never cools down.
Evacuated, vacuumed, and recharged the system by weight and here are my results.
Ambient temp: 83F

Re: Stuck open TXV, bad compressor, ...?
Just an update, it was a bad compressor. This style compressor without a clutch has voids that break away if the compressor seizes. So, the pulley was able to move freely but internally the compressor was seized.
New compressor, TXV, condenser, and cleaned lines and it’s blowing nice and cold.

Upon further research, it looks like I may be dealing with a failed variable displacement solenoid.

Hello all, I am working on a 2007 Toyota Camry 2.4L with inoperable AC. Here's the details
~85-90F outside, high and low side pressures both the exact same at about 145psi. I have 13v going to the compressor with the AC on, and I have verified 0 ohms resistance from ground wire connector to engine ...

Re: R12>R134a conversion: insufficient cooling
Hot water shut off valve may be leaking.
Hi Tim, thanks for the reply. I will check into this next time I am near the truck.
Based off of the pressure readings, is there a way to tell what the vent temperature should be close to?
Also, the only things I'm not really confident about with this AC ...

Re: Sourcing Quality Compressor
Tim, I would be more than happy to order from you:) I may need a few more parts for this compressor as well. Can I send you a PM or an E-mail?Tim wrote:We supply that shaft seal for a cheaper price. Plus would add support behind it over your Rock Auto and eBay purchases. Got to love the internet.

Re: Sourcing Quality Compressor
Bumping my old thread. I am thinking about just replacing the compressor shaft seals since the compressor itself works well, and it would save me quite a bit of cash. Has anyone ever replaced the seals in this type of compressor, and if so, is this something that is 'easily' doable DIY?

Hi Durk, I recognize your name from the turbobricks forums.
Little something I've noticed with the volvos, we don't have a high side pressure port! We simply have a low pressure port, usually located on/near the receiver drier. I believe that many of the cars had the port on the back of the ...
