Re: Strange PSI's in AC system, no cold AC

OK, excitement was too early as I took it for a drive and the car engine lurches/kicks/bucks a lot when the ac runs. on/off, etc. Air is not that cold. Could it be the magnet that came with the clutch kit whiuch I did not install? Should I test that old coil?

Re: Strange PSI's in AC system, no cold AC

I finally got the new clutch on as well as the plate! I decided it was time to yank the old clutch as its surface was sooo nice compared to the old. Put it all together and gapped around 0.017-0.018, and works nice meaning clutch does not skip/squeal anymore. Thanks to all here who patiently support...

Should I scuff it up with say, 100 grit sandpaper?

Re: Strange PSI's in AC system, no cold AC

Finally got the new clutch/plate kit. Put the new plate on and went for about 0.020-0.025 gap. Had to put 3 slim washers in there for some reason. When compressor runs , plate turns and still stops/starts although seems a tad better, But what scares me is that now there is a scraping screech sound o...

Re: Strange PSI's in AC system, no cold AC

Ok, its going slow, but steady. I will be picking up this kit tomorrow, but am worried as to how to determine the 0.020 gap . I now have 0.035. So, should one expect to find "washers" inside the plate, which one can remove to get to the lower gap size? If so, can one then just tighten the ...

Re: High side adapter fitting bad?

For $9.00 I'll take me chance that is a very low budget adapter. I'm just offering my opinion. Never said quit or did I? It's under warranty or buy another one. Either way will get you back to square one. Have you tried another adapter? Autozone in many stores offer rental guages. Sorry if my comme...

Re: High side adapter fitting bad?

Re: High side adapter fitting bad?

Are you talking about an R-12 high side fitting adapter? I have one for GM-type, and one Ford-type which I still use on my '88 B2200. What vehicle/year? A couple of years ago I bought a pack of refrigerant charging hose seals like this. Good thing, I had one fall out of a hose fitting, and some wea...
