Re: Soder leak w/out purge

Thanks very much for the info. One thing I didn't make clear was after leaning on the line (pushed it down) caused this tiny leak so small they simply lifting the line back up completely stopped the leak as far as sodering or whatever. My concern was what might happen inside the charged system becau...

Am I correct that temperature to the charged freon is the reason it can't be sodered?
Besides clamping are there any other low temp solutions for this aluminum joint like J B Weld etc.?

Soder leak w/out purge

Hi, I leaned on one of my AC lines causing a very small leak at an all metal sodered joint (I think at the "drier" but not sure). If I pulled up on the line the freon stopped misting out so I strapped the line up and also used a strip of rubber and small "C" clamp and my AC has b...

Re: Should AC Clutch Coil Be Hot

This is beyond warm. Like if you put a finger solidly on it you would have a tuff time leaving it there for as long as a second- longer and you may blister. Resistance, voltage and amps all check out but I'm replacing a coil I know has shorted and concerned about the coil wires or their slight insul...

Should AC Clutch Coil Be Hot

I'm bench testing a new replacement AC clutch coil before installing it in a van. The coil was placed on a large iron girder and when power (14V from alternator and drawing about 3.5A) was applied the coil magnetized and after a minute or so was very hot to the touch although the 14 gauge jumper wir...

AC Clutch Coil Diode

I just bought a new clutch kit for an older vehicle. The original service manual indicates a Zener diode between the coil leads to deal with voltage back flow. I haven't pulled my original coil yet but I find no visible diode on my new coil. Could the diode be out of sight under the wrapping with th...

Re: Magnetic clutch not engaging in 2009 Altima

Admittedly not familiar with auto mechanics I still suggest that IF you are measuring resistance through the otherwise disconnected coil and finding basically on open circuit (infinite ohms) your clutch will not engage no matter what the gap. But by all means look into the gap between the clutch pla...

Re: Magnetic clutch not engaging in 2009 Altima

I'm familiar with the process on my 2001 Dodge Ram Van and realize it could be very different on other vehicle's. I eventually found mine on eBay but it wasn't there when I first started looking. Try them, Amazon, Walmart (a lot of auto stuff online, Rock Auto, all your local parts stores- there is ...
