I also had a Sanden on my 1987 G20 van that I swapped to a Denso 10S20F this past summer. HUGE improvement in cooling on it as well. 4261 struggled to cool it and overall inadequate in BTU capacity as well. This was after the 10S20F swap.

Re: 1999 Chevy Tahoe will not cool properly
Verify it has one orifice tube only after the Y as mentioned. However the Sanden compressor is a HUGE downgrade. Get a 10 cylinder 88947 upgrade from Four Seasons. Had the same problem with my Express van using the garbage Sanden 4261. The 4261 would only cool even decently at higher engine rpm ...

Re: 2015 Tahoe AC pressures and temps wired
After having had rear ac for years in various vehicles, they do not cool well at idle as the compressor simply does not have enough BTU capacity at idle. You need to check your pressures at 2,000 rpm. I run the rear blower fan on low speed even when nobody is in the rear of the vehicle. If you are ...

Re: 86 Grand National
Working on a Grand National ac system which has been modified. Owner wants the system to work at peek performance especially at idle. Not positive what refrigerant is in there now but it is one of the r-12 alternatives I was told, also the mineral oil was not changed. Currently it can put 40 ...

Re: 86 Grand National
"Owner wants the system to work at peek performance especially at idle."
This is an impossible task. At idle the comp is doing nearly 0 work.
I would not say that it is an impossible task. The compressor is only doing nearly zero work if you are running a Sanden. GM V7 would be my choice as ...

Re: 10S20F Performance Chart
I forgot to post the resolution to this problem. The 2012 van had a Denso 10S17F put on it from the GM dealer rather than the 10S20F a dual ac van or ambulence package calls for. Probably a combination of a slightly weak compressor or adding 30cc of compressor displacement, either way it made all ...

Re: Installing a second a/c system in an "overlander" 4x4
The ac system removes heat from the cabin via the evaporator and rejects heat to the exterior via the condenser. If you mount the condenser inside the vehicle your system will actually have a net increase in heat in the interior of the vehicle.
If the ac system is not operating because of vehicle ...

Re: Engine swap, variable compressor vs expansion valve
Nissan/Infiniti have also used variable compressors with H-block style TXVs for over a decade now.
The concept is not different that what GM did with the STV /POA valve and Chrysler did with the EPR mounted on the old 2 cylinder V-twin steam engine under their hood. Either way the suction pressure ...

Re: Engine swap, variable compressor vs expansion valve
I do not know where the myth came from but it certainly is complete and total mis-information that a variable displacement compressor will not work with a TXV. My guess is that some of the aftermarket air conditioning companies claim it will not work to sell more compressors and mounting brackets ...

Re: Installing a second a/c system in an "overlander" 4x4
The condenser certainly cannot be inside the vehicle. You can mount it remotely though. A lot of van based buses as well as limos have a condenser for the rear system either underfloor or mounted in the skirt with electric fans. I have even seen 2 condensers run off the factory compressor on many of ...
