Re: Knock off compressor

Brad, 4-seizen's can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear (pig's ears are just dog food). The 4 high torque peaks of the R-4 per revolution are not forgiving of border line machining and assembly spec's. DELCO/Harrison design and OEM application are the basic root cause of much of the vibration an...

Re: Driving car with VDC and no refrigerant

Agree with Detroit to disengage compressor shaft from pulley if possible because oil will not circulate w/o refrigerant Many condenser extruded tube designs incorporate a thicker tube wall on the leading edge to prevent rock punctures but you had a really tough bug Clutchless VDC displacement is red...

Re: hardline and Swagloc fittings for auto a/c

F-150: Maybe you need a #8 hose at the compressor discharge instead of a #6 (you said) Detroit: welcome back to Tim's band of Brothers. You are long time gone but certainly not forgotten. I also spent too many years in 130 degree (military) hot labs and cactus lands and DV (& jim Baker grade) !s...

Re: condinser too hot

20 psi suction proves that discharge valve and scroll tangential gas bypass are ok. Scroll mounted thermal protection switch (TPS) may disengage clutch at low suction/high discharge or air in system Excessive oil just raises louver temp with scroll application Normal scroll wear turns oil gray but d...

Re: AC overhaul pressure problem

Delphi tech The scroll compressor can run liquid slugs all day because of the compliant eccentric with swing link that allows the scrolls to separate which allows tangential leakage with abnormal liquid. Tested 4 times at Lockport with TRS120 scroll on LT and monster condenser which provided 29,000 ...
