Re: Getting power to the relay but nothing to the compressor

My first inclination is to recover/evacuate/recharge to get the correct amount of refrigerant into the system, and then see if the compressor runs normally. Even though the compressor engages when you jump it and the system blows cold, it could still be low on charge. The specifications that I have ...

Re: 98 Buick Park Ave AC troubles - Hi side won't build

Before we discuss further, let me ask these questions: After you installed the new Delphi compressor, did you attain a full system charge of 32 ounces, or only a partial charge? The reason I ask is that according to the Field Service Manual, your car has a variable-displacement compressor with a mec...

The cleaned-up end looks pretty good. But from what I can tell, it still shows some pitting and an indentation where the o-ring goes. I would replace the line if you can locate one. Nothing worse than having to repeat the job due to a questionable component that fails right after completion.

I doubt it.

Re: Getting power to the relay but nothing to the compressor

The system might be low on refrigerant, not unusual for a vehicle of that age. When you say the pressures are good, have you actually connected a Manifold Gauge Set to check them? Is the system all original, and has it ever been serviced?

Re: 98 Buick Park Ave AC troubles - Hi side won't build

I had the handwheel closed to hi side during charging, only was open for vacuum and leak tests. I would like to know more about liquid charging to the hi side. I have heard this can be a bad thing? Great that you had the high-side handwheel closed during charging. As for leak testing, one point tha...

Re: 98 Buick Park Ave AC troubles - Hi side won't build

A few things come to mind. That high side handwheel on the Manifold Gauge Set (MGS) should be closed at ALL times (this is an important safety issue) except when evacuating a system or charging liquid into the high side with the engine off. You will still get a gauge reading on the high side with th...

Re: High Pressure Side ?

Sure...Is the fan working? Good airflow through the condenser? Fan shroud in place? Air going around the condenser instead of through it? Anything externally blocking the condenser, like leaves or a plastic bag? Is the condenser internally blocked due to a faulty compressor shedding debris? Is the c...
