Re: Ford E6DH compressor

Hi Boxica2x0 I am back for another explanation. My 1992 Ford E350 with front AC only has sticker on evaporator fan says 4.75 pound of R12. I know that a conversion to R134A is only 80 percent of that amount, or 3.8 pounds. Converted to ounces (at 16 weight oz. per pound) equals 60.8 ounces. But I fo...

Re: Ford E6DH compressor

Hi B, I know your name, Tim told me. Good on ya for taking the initiative to get schooled when needed. I was an electronic technician in the Navy. Did you work in AC all your life? But now, it may take some time to get back to RV AC. A few days ago my Reverse Cycle Chiller, an AC unit that pumps hot...

Re: Ford E6DH compressor

Thanks bohicx2 Roger, will pick up a side tap. And, are you also recommending brake/carb cleaner for flushing, or just an after flush cleaner. I bought both today, and I guess I am pulling the condenser again. It is brand new, except for one flush before this last attempt to revive AC. I am referrin...

Re: Ford E6DH compressor

Hi Bohica2xo

I for got to ask. I do not have a side can tap, only the valved top can screw on device. Do you consider the side tap to be more effective? My brother in law mechanic once said that he thought this was a better device.

Re: Ford E6DH compressor

Again, THANKS Bohica2xo, great information. That is what I have been looking for. And yes, I do have the electric pump. It easily pulls about 30 inches of vacuum. System holding now for two days.

I am about to fire it up again. Will let you know what happens.

Re: Ford E6DH compressor

Again, thank you bohica2xo and ACKits Tim. Every professional hint helps. I am using quart cans of solvent based flush purchased from local auto store. One is by Interdynamics, one by TempSelect. Neither lists the chemicals, only states that the fluid is formulated to clean auto AC. I take great car...

Re: Ford E6DH compressor

one thing stuck out of your plans. You were going to vacuum the system to see if it holds and then open it. Do not open a system while under a vacuum as it will draw moisture into the system. Instead, put some refrigerant or better yet, N2 if you have it then open the system. Thanks Dougflas. That ...

Re: Ford E6DH compressor

Hi Bohica2xo Thank you again. Great service. No mufflers or filters in any hoses. I removed the one between compressor and condenser when it was converted from R12. I replaced the previous accumulator when the first attempt at loading the system failed, and I found the system apparently overloaded w...

Re: Ford E6DH compressor

Hi Bohica2 I must have overlooked your previous reference to http://www.ackits.com/comp-fs6-pv6-500in-3165 for a FS6 compressor that (may, should?) fit the 1992 Ford 7.5L engine mount and fitment. It looks identical to my E6DH. However, it is listed only for the smaller engines 4.9L engines. Can you...

Re: Ford E6DH compressor

Hi, Thanks for response. I cannot find internal parts for the E6DH. I own three right now. I would like to be able to disassemble them and repair if possible. But no parts are available. Also, they are quite expensive. I would rather replace with an FS6, but don't know if this is possible. It is hal...
