Re: How much more freon will a system take when vacuumed vs. empty?

Legalities aside, when the a/c is loosing that much refrigerant you need to fix the leak. Its probably leaking oil out too and the system will never work as well as it could without the proper vacuum pulled and amount of refrigerant added. It will cost you more money in the long run doing it like yo...

Regarding the sensing bulb-yes I know you were talking about the TXV. There are a couple style txv's. The one you pictured was not the style I was speaking of, I falsely assumed you had the other style-the one you have/your picture shows is the "block style". The one I was speaking of look...

Re: Charging Liquid

As a real example a system recently was spec'd to take 700 grams (max fill) of refrigerant. Connecting liquid to the high side under vacuum we were able to charge 420 grams before switching to low side gas charge with the engine running for the remainder.

Re: Mechanical Fan AC delay

Thats what i usually do when starting up a hot car and then doing low speed operation- i select 1st gear when rolling around in traffic. Also if stopped for a light i'll pop it in neutral and rev it to 1500/2000 rpm. Obviously once the cabin cools off there is no need for this. But it does certainly...

Re: Same issue on 2 different cars!

Just out of curiosity I would double check the weigh the machine is putting out. Meaning manually take the tank, weight it, reinstall it, have machine pump out 20oz, and then re weight the tank manually and see if it is in fact putting out the weight it says it is.

Yes that high pressure is caused by lack of air flow/fan. The heat load in the condenser and its ability to reject the heat is nothing like a radiator IMO. There is not that lag, the results are almost instantaneous. For example all of a sudden i see the high side pressure creeping up when it had st...

Re: Oil amount determination with different style replacement compressor?

Here is my take, the short version. Make sure system is clean, and use the full 8oz original amount. Here is the long version. 1) who is to say what system the new compressor goes on, some systems may have different size heat exchangers, lines, total refrigerant volume ext. So right off the bat I wo...

Re: 2014 Land Cruiser AC Problem

bohica, the OP stated he tried pressing on the center plate of the a/c compressor, and the compressor still didn't engage. Checking the gap is a good idea, but I think a multimeter/test light/ and some gauges could go a really long way in narrowing this one down. He should try the broom handle clutc...

Re: Don't know how much oil I lost

Another good idea is for the O.P. to see what the total oil capacity for his system is. So for example, total capacity is 5oz and he thinks he lost about 3oz-so he adds 4oz for good measure....well thats very likely WAY TOO MUCH oil being that total capacity is 5oz. So knowing total capacity can giv...
