Re: 2013 VW Golf GTI A/C - Slow Leak
They do not, unless you have a damaged cap. That "dimple" is from the injection tooling. Besides, we offer a similar product if you want to spend that much on a service cap. Still stand behind a new R134a cap/O-ring and Nylog. If you're cranking down a service cap to crush the cap. You're doing ...

Re: 2013 VW Golf GTI A/C - Slow Leak
This is sounding more like a Freezecap sales pitch. I see very little benefit in them other than that they are a fancy service cap. If a good cap, O-ring, and Nylog won't seal it, an $80.00 service cap won't either, IMO. If people are crushing the O-ring on the service cap. That's the mechanics ...

Re: 2013 VW Golf GTI A/C - Slow Leak
Why are there holes in the top of the caps in this kit?
From what I've seen, some caps have holes, some don't. I don't get it because I thought the caps are the primary pressure barrier for the ports.

Re: 2013 VW Golf GTI A/C - Slow Leak
Hello jfklein!
At the same time you're dealing with your GTI slow leak, I also had a slow leak on my 2001 Dodge Caravan.
In my case it was a bad high side port. I was able to unscrew the old one and install a brand new one.
I also found that all the rubber O-rings at the evaporator were all ...

Re: 2013 VW Golf GTI A/C - Slow Leak
I took some better photos of the rims of the high and low side service ports in my VW GTI. See below.
Do you think the little nicks and dents in the rims are affecting the seal of the cap o-rings? If so, how would I fix the rims to get rid of the nicks and dents?

Never had a problem. If the individual is wrenching a service cap down hard enough to strip the threads. They should not be working on the vehicle. New valve core and Brass cap, best option out there.

Re: 2013 VW Golf GTI A/C - Slow Leak
I took the below photos of the rims of the high and low side service ports in my VW GTI. I used my iPhone so the photo quality isn’t the greatest. However they show some nicks and dents on the rim. I'm thinking that perhaps these are preventing the o-ring in the cap from sealing properly.
If this ...

Re: 2013 VW Golf GTI A/C - Slow Leak
I will not post Amazon or auction links because they don't support us; people seeking free advice never do. Brass caps have been and still are the best service caps available.
Is there a risk that a brass cap could strip the threads out of an aluminum service port?
On my VW GTI the service port ...

Re: 2013 VW Golf GTI A/C - Slow Leak
IMHO, the advice Cusser posted is 100-percent correct.
If you have the knowledge, skills, and tools to work on the system yourself, I suggest concentrating on potential leakage points first. Leaks could be anywhere, but I would focus my attention on the condenser, the compressor shaft seal, the ...

Re: 2013 VW Golf GTI A/C - Slow Leak
Adding to Cussers advice if I may......
I would get a Brass Cap. They make those.
How do you know there is not another leak somewhere else?
I like the UV dye. It has helped me find hard to find leaks more than a few times.
If you go that route, just be sure to get a GOOD UV Light source. Many ...
