Flushing a compressor (R134 to R12)

Is there any effective way to flush a compressor that had been used with PAG/R134 to make it ready for ester/R-12? I've let it drain for several days. Should I just pour in new ester oil and hand pump it through? The oil that came out was clean. Any help appreciated.

Mike, you are on the right track. You cannot flush a Compressor with a solvent. You will want to pour in the new oil to rinse out the old.

I would also seek (I cannot answer) a verification that the seals would or will be compatible with your new application.

Here is the tip from the procedure page.

Thank you Hecat. I had read that one a while ago but it didn't sink into the gray matter...

Does the same apply for going from Freeze12 to R12?

There is no relationship between refrigerant type and how a system should be flushed. Bottom line follow Hecat's tech paper procedures and one should be on the right track.
