Hello everyone,

I am quite the A/C newbie. Here is my problem. It all started one day of normal driving. I stopped at Petsmart to pick something up for the dog. The A/C was working normal when I went into the store, when I came back out the wife said the A/C wasn't working. So it just stopped working while sitting idle. I took it to the shop and they told me the low side pressure was getting to low and the cutoff switch would not let the compressor kick on. So they "topped" it off and sent us on our way. They put some dye into the system to be able to see where the leak would be. But it started doing the same thing where it would run and then stop and then run then stop. It seams like it would run then kick off for 10-15 minutes and then come back on again. So I am kind of stumped as what it could be. So here I am for any help I can get.

I would recover the freon and recharge tp specs. This will eliminate charge level as a problem. Forget about topping off. put the exact amount in there and go from this point.
