2003 Ford Taurus AC vac acting weird

vboss5764 on Thu September 17, 2015 8:41 PM User is offlineView users profile

Year: 2003
Make: Ford
Model: Taurus
Engine Size: 3.0
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Country of Origin: United States

I replaced the orifice tube on this AC which has been working with no leaks, the tube was pretty crudded up. So now when I vacuum it pulls down but when I close the valve the pressure starts rising. I know there are no leaks. Is it just a lot of moisture in the sys? Also the cond has been bottomed out and possibly pinched off the bottom runner, but I tested with my sniffer and no leaks. It was working somewhat cool, so there is some flow. Just can't figure out why the vac seems not to hold. I pressured it up to 70 psi and tested for leaks, left it 24 hrs and still holds. What gives?

I found that my high side gauge quick connector was loose, hopefully that was it.
