Hi guys,
Is there an optimum level that the I should follow when recharging the air con system? The factory spec says 0.45 to 0.55kg. So is there like an optimum level that I should charge it to? Or is anything in between going to make no difference?
An air con specialist charged mine to about 0.48-0.49kg which seems to be slightly on the low side? If so, will this cause any issues in time to come?
Thanks for any help.

I would fill to .55kg so it would stay in range as long as possible as the refrig slowly leaks out the shaft seal...............

Leak out of the shaft seal? Even if nothing is wrong with the system? Is this something normal? I was under the impression that it doesn't leak at all if the system is fine.
Doesn't leak at all is a statement made in dreamland-- 65% of five year old+ vehicles leak according to my survey.

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
So, charging it nearer to 0.55kg would be ideal then?
