69 C20 AC

scantino on Thu April 23, 2015 12:29 PM User is offline

Year: 1969
Make: Chevy
Model: C20
Engine Size: 350/5.7
Refrigerant Type: R12
Country of Origin: United States

I have a 69 Chevy C20 w/factory AC. The AC, heater and defroster all do not work. The most I get is noise from the fan. It looks like all the factory parts are there. but the compressor is shot (bearing noise). My question is am I better off repairing the factory system to R12, repairing/converting the factory system to R134a or replacing the factory system w/Vintage Air Sure Fit system? I know what the Vintage system will cost me. What will I likely spend and get in performance from a factory equipment? Thanks for your opinions.
