Had new ac system installed 4 mos ago on my 03 2500HD.........starting couple weeks ago belt tensioner for compressor started rattling loud when I step on gas........have had two completely come apart( from Auto zone).......installed $$ Acdelco tensioner today same issue............sound is definatley the tensioner rattling...........belt size correct...............thinking it must be the Chinese compressor................Looked at Arizona for a compressor and they have 3 listed for my vehicle ranging from 189 to 300..........not sure which to order.

There is a big note in the tensioner box that says- replace the compressor if tensioner is rattling- otherwise it will just destroy the new tensioner...pretty bold move by the tensioner folks- just my opinion..

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
