FR-12

TRB on Fri August 15, 2014 6:53 PM User is offlineView users profile

Year: 1988
Make: Chev
Model: P/U
Engine Size: 5.7
Refrigerant Type: FR-12
Ambient Temp: 100
Country of Origin: United States

We repaired a truck today with FR-12. We have about 4 30lbs cylinders from back when we were testing it for the mfg. Since R12 is so costly now we gave it a try in this truck. Had some sealing washers leaking and a scharder valve leak.

Pulled compressor drained oil, replace with BVA POE.
New accumulator.
Sealing washer and scharder valves.
Adjusted cycling switch to cycle at 22PSI. R12switch would have cycled at 25PSI.

Flushed old oil from the system using Hecat Safe Flush.

System was blowing 48 degrees with high humidity on high blower. Not bad for a refrigerant that cost $300 bucks for a 25 pound cylinder.

We have the fittings and a paint pen works fine for labeling.
